Child Support

CHILD SUPPORT IS A CHILD’S RIGHT

When parents separate or divorce, children have a right to be supported. Before a divorce will be granted, arrangements for the payment of child support must be made. The Federal Child Support Guidelines, will provide some guidance as to how much child support should be paid.

However, if you or your spouse have an income of over $150,000 or you’re self-employed, the law is increasingly complicated. At EBL Family Law, we can help you understand the Guidelines, how to calculate income and determine the requisite child support payment both retroactively and on a go forward basis.

If insufficient child support has been paid, child support arrears are owing, or there is a retroactive claim for child support, we have the experience to effectively and efficiently represent our clients and calculate potential payments.

“On September 6, 2013, my lawyer, Eryn B. Logie, accomplished the seemingly impossible: she firmly closed the lid on all support issues stemming from an especially litigious divorce. In the process, she earned me $70,000 in child support arrears dating back to 2006, expenses going forward for a gifted son’s post-secondary education: all in an Order enforceable overseas where my ex-husband resides. Eryn set out a definitive course of action and ensured that I was understood and supported the plan. She went into the courtroom with clarity and conviction. The rest, now, is history. I am not Eryn’s friend, relative, or marketing sidekick. I am just a very satisfied client who believes others should have a lawyer like mine.”
