Restraining Orders are available to anyone who experiences harassing, threatening, or physical violence by another person. Restraining Orders are usually granted without notice to the other party in case of imminent danger. The order is returnable thereafter once the other party has been service the notice. If the Restraining Order is upheld it remains in effect for a specified period of time.

If the person against whom the Order is made breaches the Restraining Order, he or she can be arrested.
